What is Metabolic Health?
Metabolic health is your body’s ability to process and use energy effectively. Metabolic health is the foundation of your energy, your weight, and your overall well-being. When your body is functioning properly, it takes the food you eat and turns it into clean, steady, energy. But when that process breaks down, it leads to metabolic dysfunction issues.
Your cells have power plants called mitochondria. Insulin is the key that unlocks the door to those power plants and lets sugar in to burn as fuel and turns it into energy. When we overload on processed carbs, sugar, and big portions, the “locks” stop functioning properly. Frequent sugar spikes corrode the lock. With corrosion, the doors don’t open as easily. Sugar can't enter the cells and it has to stay in the blood. This is called insulin resistance. Insulin resistance leads to high blood sugar, belly fat, low energy, and inflammation.
